Novels and Stories
Msgr. Robert Hugh Benson
| Monsignor Benson was the son of the Archbishop of
Canterbury. Predictably, he created quite a stir when he converted to
Catholicism and then became a Catholic priest! More than that, he became a vigorous
and eloquent defender of
the Catholic faith and wrote powerful novels – stories that illustrate the spiritual
truths of the Church. Many also detailed the sufferings and injustices inflicted
upon Catholics in
England during the Reformation. |

Lord of the
World |
|
This is Msgr. Benson's famed
prophetic novel on the Antichrist! This novel, written in 1906, takes place
around the year 2000. He gives the reader a glimpse into the immediate
future and the growth of Antichrist. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen says "The
three great apocalyptic pieces of literature dealing with the advent of the
satanic are Father Hugh Benson's Lord of the World, Dostoyevsky's
The Brothers Karamozov, and Soloviev's Three Conversations on War."
Important for our times. |

The King's
Achievement |
|
This is one of the
greatest books written by Robert Hugh Benson during his short life. He
incorporates Church history, world history, romance, intrigue, vocations,
martyrdom, war, and family into a breathtaking historical novel. The setting
is in 16th-century England. The story revolves around the gradual
destruction of the monasteries by King Henry VIII and the effects of this
destruction on the priests, nuns, and families that held fast to the Faith
of their Fathers. The book will hold your complete attention right up to the
climatic ending in the Tower of London. There are many parallels to our
times. |

By What
Authority? |

During the Protestant Reformation, Catholics suffered
terribly —families were divided; people jailed; priests were hunted down and
killed; neighbor turned against neighbor. But through it all, the few
priests that remained were able to sustain and convert many. The tale told
in this book is one of suspense, deceit, loyalty, martyrdom, truth and
conversion. 15 yrs and up. |

Come Rack!
Come Rope! |
|
The Reformation in England was a time when priests traveled
in disguise and had to be hidden by the faithful. Families heard Mass and
received the Sacraments in secret —but traitors could mean capture, torture
and death for the undercover priest. Provides vivid descriptions and
profound insights to the persecutions of Catholics during that time of
infamy in England. 16 yrs and up. |

Dawn of All |
|
A novel in which an apostate priest, on his deathbed, slips
into a coma and is given the grace to see the world in a different light; a
world in which Christ reigns Supreme. Through this revelation, he discovers
the abundant errors of Modernism —the very errors that had led him away from
the Catholic Faith. This is a blueprint for the Social Kingship of Christ in
our times. Fascinating! 16 yrs and up. |

Initiation |
|
Young Sir Neville Fanning called himself a Catholic while at
the same time lamented that he wasn’t a very good one. He was looking for
something deeper than conventional religion. Denying the cross again and
again, he couldn’t bear to suffer —even
though at every turn Our Lord was calling him. He simply could not submit
himself to God's Will. His "initiation" is a beautiful story of how his
surrender was finally won in the end! 16 yrs and up. |
