Kateri Tekakwitha

Now declared a saint, St. Kateri was a Mohawk Indian girl who felt the call of Jesus and ran away from her tribe to live at a Jesuit mission in Canada near Montreal. Kateri "puts all things in order".


Sts. John Bosco and Dominic Savio

St. John Bosco struggled to maintain his boys school. Dominic Savio was one of his students but also a great saint – especially for young people. Shows how saints often bring each other to the heights of sanctity.


St. Pius X

From a poor Italian boy who carried his shoes to school to the Pope! This is the story of the gentle but firm Guiseppe Sarto, who tried to save the Church from an onslaught of modernism at the turn of the 20th century. He is a true hero of the Church.

St. Francis Xavier is known as the apostle of India. He traveled extensively throughout the far East to evangelize the area. The fruits of his efforts are still apparent through that part of the world.


St. Dominic and the Rosary

St. Dominic started the Dominican Order of Preachers. He was also favored to receive the Rosary directly from the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The holy St. Elizabeth of Hungary tried to maintain her country's Catholic faith. She had much to suffer but persevered through it all.

Mother Cabrini was an Italian nun sent to America to assist her order. She has now been canonized as a saint.

St. John Marie Vianney spent many hours in the confessional to confess those from all over Europe. He frequently fought with the devil who was angry at so many souls being snatched from his grasp.

Fr. Marquette explored much of the Canadian and American west when it was nothing but wilderness.


Bernadette

Here is St. Bernadette Soubirous, the simple French girl who talked with Our Lady at Lourdes, France. Hers is an example of saintly virtue which heaven revealed by preserving her body incorrupt to this day.


St. Ignatius

St. Ignatius was a soldier and adventurer when he was young but, like St. Paul, her received the grace of a complete conversion and became a fervent apostle himself.


St. Catherine Labouré

St. Catherine is the saint of the Miraculous Medal, who was instructed by Our Lady to have a medal made that would confer powerful graces upon those who wore it. Indeed, miracles began to occur immediately and continue to this day.


Mother Seton

Dealt a cruel blow by the early death of her husband, Mother Seton was left of care for her children. Sacrificing her family, she embarked on a mission to teach children.


St. Benedict

St. Benedict founded the Benedictine Order and the Rule of St. Benedict that is the model for many religious communities. He was favored by many miracles.


St. Joan

St. Joan of Arc was a simple, 16 yr. old farmer's daughter who after being told by her patron saints that she had a mission, set out to save France. She was betrayed, suffered a mock trial and was burned at the stake at the age of 19 after accomplishing what she had set out to do. Inspiring.


St. Vincent de Paul

St. Vincent de Paul is the well-beloved saint who took up the cause of the poor in France during a time when no one cared. His legacy continues today through the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, which is dedicated to serving the needs of the  poor.


St. Katherine Drexel

An American saint, Katherine Drexel concerned herself especially for the the poor, native and black population, providing them with care and education, spending a a considerable personal fortune in the process.


St. Thomas More of London

St. Thomas was Lord Chancellor of England, the second most powerful position after the King himself. When King Henry VIII demanded a divorce on illegal grounds, St. Thomas could not compromise his faith or ethics even though he knew it meant his life. An example of courage and fortitude.
