Character Building & Manners
Christ came into the
world to save
souls and His teachings are primarily directed towards changing our bad
inclinations to virtue, with the promise of
Heaven for those who succeed in overcoming their fallen nature. A soul that is set on the path to pleasing God by
improving their
character, assisted by the sacraments of the Catholic Church and prayer, will find the necessary graces to develop holiness that is
pleasing to God.
| Sow a thought, reap an act; Sow an
act, reap a habit; Sow a habit, reap a character; Sow a character, reap a
destiny. A personality is set on its course long before evidence of it, good or
bad, appears. |

Proper Manners and Health Habits |

We like this book because it teaches the child
manners around the house, during meals, around others, respect for people,
housekeeping and cleaning, eating habits, safety… We use it and found it
very helpful. It’s not Catholic, but contains nothing contrary to the faith. Christian.

Catholic children are no different than
other children; they are not naturally good as some philosophers and
educators would have
us believe. In addition, you can't rely exclusively on religious instruction to develop good character in a
child. It is a parallel process in which religious instruction and character
building complement each other. A good example will also support
this effort whereas a bad example will destroy it entirely.
As a twig is bent, so the branch will
grow. |
